In order to understand the capacity of the children, they are given an assessment. It can be done in two ways: 1. by using an assessment checklist of professionals or 2. By a task analysis checklist. An educational assessment is completed before beginning the teaching or training programme. We give the most importance to concept development.
The pedagogy for persons with mild and moderate disabilities:
We educate persons with mild and moderate disabilities by story telling; teaching by signing symbols; singing and music; and the use of holy images and pictures. We communicate God’s message to the children through audio-visual aids. We also give faith formation by using drama and mime. We encourage memorization.
Pedagogy for persons with severe and profound disabilities:
For persons with severe and profound disabilities, we always focus on the following methods:
1. Desire and Awareness of the parents
2. Visitation of pious groups and
3. Praying together.
