History

In 1917, Sacred Heart Parish, Vatluru was constructed by an Italian priest of the PIME institute, Rev. Fr. Silvio Pasqauli. He long had a desire to preach the Word of God in the land of Andhra. He baptized a number of people to Christianity. The church is a Gothic structure. There is a huge tower which was built in the year 2000, the year of Jubilee, where people who travel along that road pray and many miracles take place.
In 2004, followers of Don Guanella entered into the land of Andhra Pradesh during the period of the Divine Providence Indian Delegation in particular to a diocese called Eluru. The Church consists of 7000 Catholics. The parish has another 13 substations. Now we have nine villages at present in our Parish. In 2004, Fr. Thanasekar became the first Parish Priest and in 2006 Fr. Chandra Nevis was appointed as the Parish Priest with Fr. Kulandai Samy, in 2008, be9ing appointed as the administrator of the parish. There are very many Pious groups which are active in the parish.

Founded in 2004, this parish was created to provide pastoral care to the faithful and to feed the needy. Feeding the elderly is a program unique to this parish that distinguishes the Guanelliancharism from all others.
